Lido Key Nude Beaches

If you are visiting the area and looking for clothing optional beaches there are currently no sanctioned clothing optional (nude) beaches in Sarasota. However, many years ago south Lido Beach at Ted Sperling Park and North Lido Beach were the places to go and sanctioned by the City. Now at times you can find clothing optional sunbathers at the north end dunes of North Lido Beach far away from the crowds. This area of the beach is also popular with the LGBT community and there's an annual Big Gay Beach Party set for Labor Day weekend every year although with COVID-19 who knows this year.

North Lido Beach

One of the best unsanctioned and quite fun area is Passage Key. It's located between Anna Maria Island and Egmont Key north of Sarasota. At times it's under underwater and over the years the island has come and gone as it's in the mouth of Tampa Bay and subject to the strong tides. It is only accessible by boat. On the weekends it's not uncommon to have a large contingent of boats and people in the buff and maybe a volleyball game. If you need a boat you can rent one at Cannons Marina on Longboat Key or at the Marina Jacks in downtown Sarasota. Passage Key is also a fun stop on the way for a day on Egmont Key which I'll address in a future blog.

Passage Key at Tampa Bay

For traditional nudists and sanctioned facilities, Pasco County, Florida, a little more than an hour north of Tampa, is considered by some the nude capital of the U.S. With numerous clothing optional hotels, housing developments and resorts along with year round good weather it makes for some good locations to feel and share the freedom of no clothing with others. Paradise Lakes and Caliente Resorts are two of the more notable to check out and both have day passes. With COVID-19 check before you go.

For other areas around Florida check out these other locations. Some are sanctioned and some are not. Don't forget your sunscreen!
